Volunteer Probation Officers (VPOs) work alongside MSF’s Probation Officers to guide probationers in leading resilient and fulfilling lives. VPOs can help to:
Befriend and mentor probationers
Conduct time restriction checks on probationers
Link probationers up with community resources, skills and strengths-based activities, employment opportunities and more
Share their knowledge and areas of expertise to support probationers to better navigate their own challenges (e.g. facilitate motivational or career guidance talks)
Plan and oversee Community Service projects
Contribute to the development of interventions/programmes.
Join us as a Volunteer Probation Officer if you are passionate about serving with a heart to support probationers in their journey of transformation. You will need to be 21 years old and above, have at least completed the GCE 'N' Level (academic / technical) examinations and are not employed as a Police or Prison Officer. Good interpersonal skills will be an added advantage.
Basic and ongoing training is provided for VPOs. This includes:
Overview of Probation and Community Rehabilitation Service
Basic communication and befriending skills
Understanding today's youth and models of intervention
The orientation training consists of an online e-learning module and one compulsory classroom training session. There will also be ongoing training on different aspects of working with probationers to enhance the VPO's skills.
