The Ministry of Social and Family Development has designated 2024 as the Year of Celebrating Volunteers (YCVolunteers), to recognise and celebrate the contributions of volunteers in the social sector and beyond. By partnering MSF, our volunteers have given their time, talent and treasures to build strong families and a caring and inclusive society.

YCVolunteers will build on the strong foundation from MSF’s Year of Celebrating Social Service Partners in 2023. Beyond creating impact on those they serve, volunteers also gained personally from the experience. The impact will grow when volunteerism is more structured and we are moving beyond ad hoc efforts to sustained impact. Together, we can strengthen our social compact and build a better future for Singapore.

On 1 November 2012, the former Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) was restructured to become the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).

It would be best for singles to carry out thorough research via online reviews, word-of-mouth recommendations from family and friends, as well as check for alternate Trustmark like CaseTrust. Singles may also enquire with the businesses directly on their track record, services and price points.

MSF's efforts include helping singles gain skills to build stronger relationships, and being part of a whole-of-society effort to make Singapore more family-friendly and conducive for singles to achieve their marriage aspirations.

MSF will spotlight and celebrate the good work of volunteers from both within and beyond the social service sector, including social service agencies, corporates and the general public.

MSF is in the middle of a three-year campaign to celebrate the social service sector. In 2023, we celebrated our Social Service Partners. This year, we have broadened our campaign to celebrate Year of Celebrating Volunteers volunteers. In 2025, we will celebrate Social Service Professionals.

Year of Celebrating Volunteers (YCVolunteers) is a year-long campaign. Everyone can use the frame till the end of 2024.

There is no requirement for the submission of stories as we would like to profile and appreciate all volunteers. However, we will prioritise stories of volunteer leaders, regular volunteers, corporate volunteers, youth/senior volunteers.

Selected stories will be featured via the various communication channels on MSF. This includes YCVolunteers website (go.gov.sg/YCVolunteers), @msfcares social media channels such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and/or LinkedIn. Beyond social media, we may share the stories on print advertorials, radio opportunities, out-of-home channels and other YCVolunteers communications materials.

Stories shared on your respective platforms do not have to be cleared through us. But do share it with us and we can explore ways to amplify it. We will notify you if your story is selected for a feature for Year of Celebrating Volunteers.
