How do I check my newborn's citizenship status?
A child born in Singapore to legally married parents who are both Singapore citizens (or either one is a Singapore citizen) at the time of child's birth, is automatically a Singapore Citizen.

There is no longer a need to surrender the deceased’s NRIC for physical invalidation. The deceased’s NRIC will be automatically invalidated in ICA’s system once the death is registered. To prevent misuse, you may either destroy the invalidated NRIC, or punch a hole in it.The use of another person’s NRIC is an offence under the National Registration Act, which carries a penalty of a fine not exceeding $10,000, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years, or both.
You may use the "Enquire Application Status" function at the e-Service. You will need your application reference number and e-mail address provided during application to access this function.

Digital birth or death certificates will be the default form issued from 29 May 2022. Private entities should use the QR code embedded on the digital certificate to verify the digital certificate online at ICA website.
Only parents are eligible to use LifeSG to register the birth of their newborn. If the parents are unable to register the child’s birth on LifeSG please email ICA at ICA_Birth_RBD@ica.gov.sg for assistance.
Birth certificates issued after 29 May 2022 are in digital format. Birth certificates issued before this date remain valid and will not be converted into digital format.
Parents may contact ICA at ICA_Birth_RBD@ica.gov.sg for assistance on the download of your child's digital birth certificate after 90 days.
