If one of your child's parents is a Singapore citizen, a Singapore citizenship application can be made online via ICA e-Service by the Singapore citizen parent using his/her Singpass account. In order to submit the application, the child is required to already hold a foreign birth certificate issued by the authority in his/her country of birth. You are encouraged to submit the application before your child turns one-year-old to facilitate the processing of your child's application.
You are not required to book an appointment for oath-taking. You may proceed to ICA Building, Level 6 and obtain an 'Oath-taking' queue ticket at the self-service kiosks. Please ensure you have the required documents to complete your Oath of Renunciation, Allegiance and Loyalty (ORAL).
You are eligible to apply for Singapore citizenship if you are a PR and an Aged Parent of a Singapore citizen. For more information, you may refer to the Becoming a Singapore Citizen page on the ICA website.
If you have changed jobs during the Singapore citizenship application process, please upload your updated employment letter and latest payslips under the 'Upload Additional Document' tab by logging in to MyICA using your Singpass.
Please write in to ica_irr_review@ica.gov.sg in order for us to assist you further. Kindly indicate your NRIC number, full name and local contact number in your email to us.
You may log into ICA e-Service with your Singpass to apply for Singapore citizenship after completing full-time NS with both the Certificate of Service and Service Transcript.
Your child may apply Singapore Citizenship without the need to be a Permanent Resident.
If you see a 'Pending' status on your MyICA landing page upon Singpass log in, please click on the Citizenship e-Services dashboard to see if there are any instructions or updates. Your application is under consideration if the application status is reflected as 'Pending'.
You may write in to ICA_Citizenship_Unit@ica.gov.sg to request for reschedule of your citizenship ceremony.
You are considered a Singapore citizen after you have successfully completed your registration. If both parents are not Singapore citizens at the time of child's birth, the child will not be a Singapore citizen even though he/she is born in Singapore. This confirmation will be indicated in the child's birth certificate issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore. The status will not change even when the parent subsequently becomes a Singapore citizen.
You can refer to Becoming a Singapore Citizen for more information on Singapore citizenship application for your child. You can log in to the ICA e-Service or MyICA using your Singpass should you wish to apply to register your child for Singapore citizenship.
You may appeal the decision by writing to ICA_Citizenship_unit@ica.gov.sg along with your NRIC number or application reference number. You may state the reason(s) why you should be considered for Singapore citizenship, with supporting documents where applicable. You can also provide us information that has changed since the last application. Please note that the outcome of your appeal will remain the same if there is no change in circumstances.
