You may appeal the decision by writing to ICA_Citizenship_unit@ica.gov.sg along with your NRIC number or application reference number. You may state the reason(s) why you should be considered for Singapore citizenship, with supporting documents where applicable. You can also provide us information that has changed since the last application. Please note that the outcome of your appeal will remain the same if there is no change in circumstances.
A Singapore citizen may obtain Permanent Residency (PR) of another country. However, a Singapore citizen aged 21 years and above is not allowed to hold dual citizenship.
You are required to produce a deed poll/baptism or religious certificate/marriage certificate to effect the name change during the registration.
All applications for Singapore citizenship are carefully considered and reviewed by ICA. Factors such as the applicant's family ties to Singaporeans, economic contributions, length of residency in Singapore, ability to contribute to and integrate into Singapore, and commitment to sink roots in Singapore are considered, among other factors.

To apply for Singapore passport, one needs to be a Singapore citizen first.You may apply Singapore citizenship for your child as the sponsor. The application is submitted online via MyICA by using the sponsor's Singpass. Please refer to ICA website for more information on Singapore Citizenship application, including child's document checklist.
Singapore citizen holds a pink Identity Card (IC) while PR holds a blue IC.
You may provide a copy of your Singapore citizenship certificate/pink IC or Singapore passport for them to update your citizenship status.
Under Article 135(1)(b) and 135(1)(c) of the Singapore Constitution, a Singapore citizen who has been away from Singapore for a continuous period of 10 years or more without a valid Singapore passport may be deprived of his Singapore citizenship. You are advised to have a valid Singapore travel document if you wish to remain outside of Singapore for more than 10 years.
You must produce an authorisation letter from the applicant explaining the reasons for the application and his/her original documents such as Singapore Identity Card or Birth Certificate or Singapore Citizenship Certificate. In the absence of the above, we can accept the foreign passport.

Current or former NRIC or FIN holders may apply for a formal confirmation letter of Singapore citizenship status. The outcome letter will state your current Singapore citizenship status i.e. you are a Singapore citizen or not a Singapore citizen.
A S$20 fee is applicable for this service. You may refer to ICA website for more information.
You may request a replacement copy of your citizenship certificate from Level 6 of ICA Building, Citizenship Unit between 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, Mondays to Fridays and 8.00 am to 12.30 pm on Saturdays (except Public Holidays). Please prepare one colour photograph, an explanation letter and ensure you have your Singapore Identity Card or Birth Certificate (for children who are not issued a Singapore Identity Card) or Singapore Passport with you. A replacement fee of $20 is applicable. You will be advised on the collection of the replacement certificate accordingly.
