Is seeing an art therapist akin to seeing a psychologist or a psychiatrist?
No. While all three focus on mental health treatment based on psychological theories, they differ significantly in approach. Psychiatry focuses on medication and biological factors in mental health, while psychology often emphasises more congitive and behavioural interventions as their primary approach. Art therapy, however, specialises in using art-based techniques and creative processes to facilitate psychodynamic psychotherapy.
