If the jail term for inmate is short, is visiting still allowed?

Updated by SPS

For inmates serving short sentences, visiting is possible for Next-of-Kin and immediate family members, but may not be practical due to processing times.

Visit applications take up to 15 working days to process (longer without proper documentation like marriage or birth certificates). For inmates serving very short sentences such as 2 weeks, the approval may come after release.

For very short sentences, we recommend family members write e-letters instead via: https://www.sps.gov.sg/e-letter/.
