What is this new feature?

This is a new way to set up the Singpass app on a new device. Existing Singpass app users who are changing devices can set up the app on the new device using Bluetooth. It is quicker and does not need SMS-OTP or Singpass Face Verification.

Why was this feature introduced?

The Singpass team continuously looks for ways to improve your experience. The App-to-App Setup feature makes it easier for users changing devices to set up their Singpass app on the new device. Instead of going through the full setup again, you can move your Singpass app securely from your old phone to your new one.

What if I am unable to use the App-to-App Setup method?

If you encounter persistent issues with Bluetooth or cannot complete the App-to-App Setup, you can still set up the Singpass app the usual way using SMS OTP and Singpass Face Verification.

Why am I unable to use alternative method for Singpass app set up?

If you have not set up your 2FA, such as mobile number or a photo with ICA, you would not be able to proceed with alternative methods to set up your Singpass app. You may refer to this detailed guide to update your mobile number or set up your photo with ICA.

What are the minimum supported OS versions for iOS and Android?

The minimum supported OS versions for Singpass app are iOS 15 or above and Android 8 or above. For the App-to-App Setup, users must have the Singpass app already set up on a previous device.

Can this work if someone is switching between an iPhone and an Android (or phone and tablet)?

Yes. The App-to-App Setup works across devices - for example, from iPhone to Android, Android to iPhone, or even between a phone and a tablet. You just need to ensure that the Singpass app is up to date and on version 25.4.0 or above on both devices first.

Will users who do not have an existing Singpass app be affected?

App-to-App Setup is only available to users with an existing Singpass app.

What happens if the user does not have their device with them?

Both devices must be close together during the App-to-App Setup. 

For users who have no access to their previous device with an active Singpass app, they can still set up the Singpass app on their new device using the existing SMS OTP + Face Verification method.

Is Bluetooth necessary?

Yes. Bluetooth is used to check that both devices are close together and ensures security.

Will the Singpass app be active on the new and old devices?

No, the Singpass app will always be active on one device only. Once the Singpass app has been successfully set up on the new device, the app on the previous device is automatically deactivated, ensuring that there is only one copy of your credentials.
