I encountered error 88-UP16 / 98-UP021 on the Singpass app. What should I do?
For local users
Set up your SMS 2FA or update your mobile number before setting up the Singpass app.
If you have set up SMS 2FA or updated your mobile number but still encounter issues with setting up Singpass app, contact the Singpass Helpdesk via https://go.gov.sg/singpass-feedback-issue and an officer will be in touch to assist you.
You can set up your SMS 2FA by following these steps:
Log in to Singpass using Face Verification
Select 'Set up 2FA' icon
Select 'Register SMS 2FA'
Enter and verify your mobile number
Singpass only accepts Singapore-registered mobile numbers.
For overseas users
Update your overseas address with ICA and use face verification when setting up the Singpass app. If you require assistance with face verification, you may contact the Singpass Helpdesk via https://go.gov.sg/singpass-feedback-issue and an officer will be in touch to assist you.
