What is a sentence?

A sentence is the punishment that you will have to bear after you have been convicted of an offence by the Court.

These are the common types of sentences imposed by a Court:

  • Fines

  • A term of imprisonment

  • Caning

  • Preventive Detention

  • Corrective Training

  • Probation

  • Reformative Training

  • Community Based Sentences

  • Disqualification from driving
