What is probation?
Probation is an alternative to sentences like imprisonment and fine. Probation is a common sentencing option available to young offenders below 21 years of age. The Court can make a probation order for a period between 6 months and 3 years. During the probation period, you need to comply with the conditions (for example: to not reoffend, comply with time restrictions) and be supervised by a probation officer.
Any breach of the probation order may lead to the order being revoked and you may be sent to prison to serve the original sentence.
