What are the Night Courts?
The Night Courts primarily handle cases involving regulatory offences and minor traffic offences and operate during the evening hours to provide convenience to members of the public, especially those who might otherwise need to take a day off from work.
Key details about Night Courts:
Commencement of Proceedings: Cases are typically commenced via a Notice to Attend Court or Summons, which will specify the required Court, date, and time. Depending on the nature of your traffic or regulatory offence, you will have to either pay the offer of composition or attend court.
Court Attendance: Attendance is compulsory, and failure to attend may result in a Warrant of Arrest being issued.
Transfer to Day Courts: If you decide to claim trial or if the Judge deems it more appropriate, the case may be transferred to the Day Courts.
