i) Dedicated rest areas under well-ventilated shaded areas
During training sessions at the Padang, we will have dedicated rest areas at shaded well-ventilated locations.
ii) Adherence to work-rest cycle and a hydration regime
When the weather gets warmer, we ensure that participants get more rest. We have also provided multiple water points and constantly remind participants to hydrate to ensure participants drink sufficient fluids.
iii) Progressive training
We will have multiple training sessions to allow participants to get acclimatised to the heat and intensity of their performance.
iv) Monitoring of Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT)
We will continue to monitor the WBGT and adjust our heat management plan accordingly.
v) Recognising that this is the inter-monsoon period with temperatures hitting record highs, we have enhanced our heat management by:
vi) For spectators watching the Show, they are advised to wear caps/hats to attend the NDP. Additional bottles of water will be distributed on site, in addition to the water bottle in the NDP Pack.
v) NDP 2024 EXCO will introduce Ice Popsicles for participants' consumption as a preventive measure to lower heat-related safety risks during the high ambient temperature period in the coming months. This safety measure to efficiently reduce core body temperature is proposed by researchers from the Heat Resilience & Performance Centre.
vii) Preventive measures
The NDP 2024 EXCO will be including a foldable fan and doubling the amount of water in the NDP Pack.
