Can I appeal for Government-Paid Parental Leave if I worked with my employer for less than 3 months when my child was born?

Updated by MSF

While the 3-month continuous employment requirement cannot be waived, the Government may still reimburse employers who voluntarily grant the following leave to employees who do not meet this criterion:

  • Government-Paid Maternity Leave (GPML)

  • Government-Paid Paternity Leave (GPPL)

  • Shared Parental Leave (SPL)

  • Adoption Leave for Mothers (AL)

The employee must still meet all other eligibility criteria, such as having a child who is a Singapore Citizen. Please refer to the GPL Portal for the full list of eligibility criteria.
