What court orders can I apply for under the Vulnerable Adults Act?

If you are a Vulnerable Adult (VA), a family member of a VA, or a donee or deputy of a VA, you may apply for one or more protective orders to protect the VA against future abuse or neglect. Family members are to obtain the VA’s consent before applying for the orders.
There are 4 types of protective orders which you may apply for:
1. A Restraining Order to stop the person causing harm from further abusing the VA;
2. An Exclusion Order to prevent the person causing harm from entering the VA’s home or entering parts of the VA’s home;
3. A Non-Access Order to prevent the person causing harm from entering or remaining in specified areas frequented by the VA for a specified period; and/or
4. A Non-Communication Order , which prevents the person causing harm from communicating with or visiting the VA.
Additionally, you may apply for an Expedited Order, which is a temporary Protective Order issued pending the hearing of the application if the VA is experiencing, or is in imminent danger of, abuse or neglect.
