Do Protection Orders have an expiry date?

Updated by MSF

A protection order under the Women's Charter has effect either indefinitely or for a specified period.

An Expedited Order made in accordance with Section 61 of the Women's Charter, has effect for 28 days, beginning from either the date the order was served on the person causing harm or any later date specified in the Expedited Order, unless it is earlier revoked. The Court may extend the term of the Expedited Order where necessary.
