What if I refuse medical examination and/or to be isolated / quarantined?
A person who fails to comply with an Isolation Order (IO) or a Quarantine Order (QO) issued to him/her under the Infectious Diseases Act 1976, or who refuses to cooperate with Health Officers carrying out their duties under the Act, commits an offence and may be arrested without warrant.
The penalty for a first offence is a fine of not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or both. For a second or subsequent offence, the penalty is a fine not exceeding $20,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or both.
