Mediation allows parties the flexibility to come up with their own solutions. Mediation saves time and cost. The Applicant only needs to pay a one time $5 admin fee. A session typically lasts 2 hours. Mediation provides parties the opportunity to preserve post conflict relationship. Mediation is private and confidential.
Is the remediation session chargeable? If your last mediation is less than 3 months ago, no fees are required.
Can the CDRT hear cases that took place a long time ago?The CDRT comes under the purview of the State Courts. You can find more information at www.statecourts.gov.sg or contact them at 1800 587 8423.
What is a mediation process like?During mediation, the CMC mediator, who is a trained neutral party, will facilitate discussions between the disputing parties. Parties will explain their issues in conflict. The mediator will facilitate the discussion and help parties negotiate possible options. At times, the mediator may speak to parties privately to understand issues in depth. Once parties are able to agree on mutually acceptable solutions, the mediator will put these terms into an agreement. Parties will sign the agreement. The agreement is binding on the signed parties. If parties cannot come to an agreement, the mediation will come to a close. Parties will need to seek other forms of redress.
