How do I transfer the remains of my loved one back to Singapore?

Updated by ICA

If death had occurred overseas, it should be registered with the relevant foreign authorities where the death occurred.

You will require a permit from the National Environment Agency to transfer human remains from overseas to Singapore for cremation or burial.

If the deceased was a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident, the deceased’s next of kin will then need to report the death to the Registry of Births and Deaths in Singapore. A proxy can also report the death with a letter of authorisation and identification document of the deceased’s next of kin.
