Why should Pioneer Generation (PG) and Merdeka Generation (MG) cardholders still apply for CHAS, when they enrol into Healthier SG? What is the Healthier SG Chronic Tier benefits for them?
PG and MG seniors enrolled with the Healthier SG GP clinics can access the new Healthier SG Chronic Tier subsidy framework, where they can enjoy access to selected chronic medications, similar to those prescribed and subsidised at polyclinics, at prices comparable to polyclinics.
Under this framework, PG and MG seniors can receive 87.5% and 81.25% subsidy (with no dollar cap) respectively for selected chronic medications. They will also receive subsidies of up to $360 per year for other components of their chronic care, such as consultation, lab tests and medications that are not part of the list of selected chronic medications.
Patients who are more likely to benefit from the new Healthier SG Chronic Tier are those with chronic conditions with higher medication needs and bills which exceed the current CHAS annual subsidy limits. Hence, patients are encouraged to consult their family doctors if they are suitable to switch to the selected chronic medications that are eligible for percentage subsidies under the new Healthier SG Chronic Tier.
To cater for possible changes to their medical needs, patients will be allowed to switch between the existing CHAS Chronic Tier and the new Healthier SG Chronic Tier. Should there be a switch between subsidy frameworks, the annual dollar subsidy balance will be pro-rated accordingly. For more details on the new Healthier SG Chronic Tier, please refer to this.
PG and MG seniors are nonetheless encouraged to sign up for the CHAS card as MOH continues to review enrolment benefits under Healthier SG.
Healthier SG benefits and subsidies are available/accessible at your enrolled Healthier SG clinic.
