Staying Scam-Smart

Updated by SPSVCO

Scam cases are on the rise, so it's important to know how to protect both ourselves and our supervisees. Take a quick look at these common scam tactics so you know what to watch out for:

Investment Scams:

Victims usually come across "lucrative" investment offers online or recommendations by online friends. Scammers use false testimonies to trick victims into transferring money to bank accounts or cryptocurrency wallets

Government Impersonation Scams:

Scammers may impersonate government officials via phone or WhatsApp, claiming bank issues and requesting personal or banking information. Do not share them - government officials will never ask for such information.

Fake Friend Call Scams:

Someone calling or messaging claiming to be your friend who "lost his or her phone & changed number" , then asking for money? Think twice!

Job Scams:

Beware of work-from-home job offers promising commission for tasks such as making online purchases, liking social media posts, giving reviews, completing surveys and more.
