What are the best practices when working with supervisees?

Updated by SPSVCO

Engagement with supervisees:

  • Maintain confidentiality about supervisees’ personal information, share about the limits of confidentiality

  • Establish clear boundaries and expectations

  • Be non-judgmental & provide a safe space for the supervisee to share about themselves

  • Be culturally sensitive and mindful of cultural differences

  • Guide supervisees on setting achievable goals, and celebrate small successes with them

Safety and Security

  • When meeting in person, choose safe locations

  • In times of crisis and emergency, contact relevant authorities e.g. SPF, SCDF

Support and Resources

  • Link supervisees to community resources after seeking their consent e.g. SSO, Medical Social Worker, Support Groups
