I have lost my mobile device. What should I do?
Lost mobile device
If you lost your mobile device, you can still set up Singpass on a new device. What you need to do depends on where you are and what information you still have access to.
1. If you are in Singapore
You can install the Singpass app on your new mobile device. Depending on your situation, one of the following will work:
a) If you still have access to your Singapore mobile number
Install the Singpass app on your new phone.
You will receive your SMS OTP to complete the setup.
b) If you no longer have your Singapore mobile number (lost SIM card)
Option 1: Replace your SIM card
Go to your registered Telco and request a replacement SIM.
Once your mobile number is active again, you will receive your SMS OTP and set up the app.
Option 2: Purchase a new mobile number and update your mobile number with Singpass
To set up Singpass again, you will need an active Singapore mobile number to receive your SMS OTP.
You may do this by visiting any telco shop (e.g., Singtel, StarHub, M1, or other providers) to replace your SIM card or obtain a new mobile number.
Once your number is active, please call Singpass Helpdesk at +65 6335 3533 to update your mobile number in your Singpass account.
Once updated, you can install the Singpass app on your new device and complete the setup. Here is how you can set up the Singpass app.
2. If you are overseas
Your next steps depend on whether your registered address with ICA is a Singapore address or an overseas address.
a) If your registered address is an overseas address
You can set up the Singpass app overseas using Singpass Face Verification.
b) If your registered address is a Singapore address
For security reasons, Singpass sends SMS OTP if your registered address is in Singapore. This ensures that only you can securely set up the app.
If you are overseas and unable to receive your SMS OTP on your Singapore mobile number, please refer to the alternative options below.
Option 1: Update your address with ICA to your overseas address
Submit a change of address (eCOA) via ICA’s portal: https://go.gov.sg/ic-address.
Note: When prompted to log in with Singpass, select “Password Login” (located above the QR code, instead of the “Scan QR Code” option) to proceed with your Singpass ID and Password.
Once ICA updates your address to an overseas address, you will be able to onboard to Singpass using face verification.
Note: This may take several days and may not be suitable for urgent cases
Option 2: Contact Singpass Helpdesk
You can request help at https://go.gov.sg/singpass-feedback-issue, or if it is urgent, call the Singpass Helpdesk at +65 6335 3533.
3. If you lost your mobile device and don't have access to your identification documents
If you cannot access your Singpass app and you do not have your NRIC/FIN, please contact the Singpass Helpdesk at +65 6335 3533.
We will advise you on the next steps.
4. What happens to the Singpass app on my lost device?
Once you activate Singpass on your new mobile device, the app on your old mobile device is automatically deactivated.
For peace of mind, you may also call the Singpass Helpdesk at +65 6335 3533 and press “9” to suspend your account.
