Some examples of child maintenance orders include:

• Fixed periodic payments e.g., every month

• One time lump-sum payment

• Reimbursement of expenses, either in full or in part.

• Direct payment of expenses to a service provider (such as a childcare centre)

In determining the quantum for child maintenance, the Women's Charter provides that the Court can consider factors such as the financial needs of the child, the respective parents' ability to provide and the standard of living enjoyed by the child.
