Who administers the registration of FSEs and what are the criteria?
The registration of FSE is administered by the SCDF.
The registration criteria for application are as follows:
Possess at least a degree qualification in the field of fire safety engineering; and
Have at least 5 continuous years of relevant practical experience in the design of fire safety works in buildings acquired after obtaining the fire safety engineering degree qualification, of which 3 years or more in aggregate shall involve projects based on fire safety engineering solutions; and
Must have maintained a clean record and must not have been found guilty of an offence under the Fire Safety Act, Professional Engineers Act or Architects Act.
Applicants who wish to register as Fire Safety Engineer shall submit the following to the Fire Safety Engineers Selection Panel during the registration period:-
Completed Application Form; and
Certified true copies of documentary evidence of applicant’s qualification and practical experience; and
Recent testimonials from 2 local referees in Singapore as to the applicant’s good character.
A Singapore address must be provided if applicant is a foreigner (mandatory per the Fire Safety Act 1993),
Both Application Form and Letter of Reference can be downloaded via SCDF website. Applicants who meet the requirements will be selected by SCDF to attend a face-to-face interview with the Fire Safety Engineers Selection Panel.
