What is the documentary requirement when intending to operate a new ride?
Ride operators are required to obtain approval from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for the design and installation of regulated amusement rides through the submission of the Application Form for Fire and Rescue Management System.
The submission shall include supporting documents such as risk assessments, product specification sheets, material safety data sheets, and product testing reports, as required. Ride operators are to engage a Specialist Professional Engineer (SPE) to conduct the necessary assessments and facilitate the submission process, particularly when the amusement ride or its components are manufactured or sourced from overseas jurisdictions. For additional information and list of Amusement Ride SPE, please refer to the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore website: https://www.peb.gov.sg/pe_general_spe.aspx.
Upon receipt of the application, SCDF will liaise with ride operators to address any queries and conduct necessary inspections of the ride and site prior to the issuance of a Notice of Approval (NOA).
Ride operators may obtain the relevant forms from the SCDF website, and submit the completed forms or any amusement ride-related enquiries to SCDF_Amusement_Rides@scdf.gov.sg. The required engagement forms can be accessed via the SCDF website at the following link: https://www.scdf.gov.sg/fire-safety-services-listing/amusement-rides-approval.
