How do I check if a business/ company is legitimate?
As the ScamShield app is focused on helping users check and report suspicious phone numbers, messages, and website links, we're unable to verify business registration details or company legitimacy directly.
However, we recommend the following steps:
Visit the ACRA BizFile+ website to search for the company using the UEN or business name (https://www.bizfile.gov.sg/)
2. Be very cautious about dealing with any company that:
Can't be found on ACRA
Appears to be de-registered or inactive
Only shows very old documentation
Has an unusual UEN format
If someone is trying to do business with you using this company information, this could be a scam attempt. Please report the suspicious number/ message or website link via the ScamShield app so that it can be reviewed by the authorities and consider making a police report if you've been approached for business or investments.
