what do I do if I break my pld
PLDs which are damaged can be sent for repair at the Lenovo Service Centre at 3 Irving Rd, #01-17 Tai Seng Centre. BITC, Singapore 369522. If students need to loan a PLD while their PLDs are sent for repair, they may approach ICT(A), Mr Hairwan, at IT Office (next to Level 2 D&T Room). How can I appeal to Nan Chiau High School for admissions?
School admissions are based on merit in the Secondary 1 Posting Exercise. Posting decisions are based on objective and transparent measures of academic merit i.e. PSLE scores. Appeals that take place after the S1 Posting Exercise must be aligned to these principles, in order to be fair to other admitted students. All students appealing into Nan Chiau High School must also have sat for the Chinese Language or Higher Chinese Language paper during their PSLE Examinations. Primary 6 students who have applied to Nan Chiau High School during MOE’s Secondary 1 Posting Exercise but are unsuccessful, may appeal to be considered for transfer to Nan Chiau High School. These students appealing for admission to NCHS after the release of the Secondary 1 Posting result have to meet the school’s cut-off point. Students who do not meet the cut-off point would not be eligible to appeal for admissions.I wish to enter Nan Chiau using performing arts (Music), but this is not offered by NCHS DSA talent area list 2023. Can I still apply DSA?
If you intend to apply to NCHS via DSA(Sec), please refer to our school DSA web page for the DSA domains offered by our school this year via https://www.nanchiauhigh.moe.edu.sg/our-resources/Admission-to-NCHS/Direct-School-Admission-Exercise/.

We strongly encourage parents to approve the use of their children's Edusave for this purpose to minimize out-of-pocket fund. To check on your child's Edusave balance, you may call MOE's 24hr automated hotline at 6260 0777. It is compulsory for all MOE FAS students to use their Edusave to purchase the PLDs. This authorization is already covered in the 2021 FAS application form. School-Based FAS students are strongly encouraged to sign up for the PDLP Standing Order so as to minimize the cash outlay. For Singapore Citizen students who are not under MOE FAS or School Based FAS, parents may choose not to use the Edusave and pay the amount through AXS/AXS mobile app/cash upon receiving the school bill. Parents opting to pay cash and are onboard GIRO should ensure sufficient amount in their bank account.Must we purchase the school-prescribed device?
Every school has a prescribed device selected and our school has chosen the Chromebook which is consistent across all 4 levels in our school. We would strongly encourage the purchase of the prescribed device, but we would respect the decision of the parents should they choose to use their personal devices as long as they are able to perform the following:
On screen writing with the use of a stylus
access to Google workplace
access to Microsoft Office
internet access
zoom meeting with earpiece (wired or Bluetooth)
Please note that parents who have submitted ‘Yes, purchasing’ cannot retract their decisions as the order has already been submitted to the vendors.
What is Personal Learning Device (PLD) for?
At MOE’s Committee of Supply Debate in March 2020, MOE launched the National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP) for our schools and Institutes of Higher Learning to help students strengthen their digital literacy. Throughout their educational journey, students will be able to acquire digital skills across four components in the “Find, Think, Apply, Create” framework. One of the components of the NDLP is the introduction of the Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP) for all secondary school students, whereby every secondary school student will own a school-prescribed Personal Learning Device (PLD) by end-2021. The PLD will be used in tandem with the national e-learning platform – the Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS) – as well as other educational technology to personalise and enhance students’ learning. This will also enable students to acquire digital skills and apply these skills as they navigate an increasingly digitalised world. What is NDLP or National Digital Literacy Programme?
