Why do ARS-certified asatizah also need to register as a Muslim Religious if they teach at least 10 students but do not formally run a school or education centre?

Updated by MUIS

· The ARS and MRS registration frameworks serve different but complementary purposes.

· The ARS applies to the individual religious teacher and ensures that asatizah who provide Islamic instruction meet the necessary qualifications and professional standards, including the ARS Code of Ethics.

· MRS registration applies to the provision of religious education, and enables MUIS to maintain oversight of Islamic education programmes, including the curriculum used and how Islamic instruction is conducted.

· Taken together, these two frameworks provide assurance to the community that both the religious teachers and instruction provided meet the appropriate standards.
