If I fulfil Zakat using credit card but my credit card bill is only settled after my haul date, is my Zakat considered delayed and will I be penalised for it?
No, your Zakat is not considered delayed. When a credit card is used to fulfil Zakat, the amil will receive the money which is advanced by the financial institution within 24 hours to up to 3 days. This process is similar to using a debit card. Once the transaction is recorded in your card statement, your Zakat is considered as successfully fulfilled.
The responsibility now is for the Zakat payer (muzakki) to pay back the financial institution (i.e. your credit card bill) without delay within the allocated re-payment period.
