GPML and GPPL are granted for compassionate reasons, which is why parents retain their full entitlement even if their child has passed away. SPL, however, is specifically intended to support caregiving and bonding with a child. As such, any unused portion of SPL is no longer claimable if the child has passed away. Appeals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
