Can divorced parents still claim Government-Paid Childcare Leave (GPCL) or Extended Childcare Leave (ECL) even without custody?

Childcare leave is extended to divorced parents regardless of custody, as some continue to care for their children. Both parents are important in a child's upbringing, so the scheme enables parents to play their part even if divorced.

As childcare leave is unconditional, employers are not required to determine the parent's intentions before granting leave, as long as eligibility criteria are met.
