What is the pro-rated Government-Paid Childcare Leave (GPCL) / Extended Childcare Leave (ECL) entitlement for new and terminating employees?
Government-Paid Childcare Leave (GPCL)
GPCL entitlement should be pro-rated based on length of service within the year:
Length of Service within the year | Eligible GPCL Days |
Less than 5 months | 2 days |
5 to less than 7 months | 3 days |
7 to less than 9 months | 4 days |
9 to less than 11 months | 5 days |
11 months or more | 6 days |
Note: Staff must meet 3-month employment criterion.
Extended Childcare Leave (ECL)
The employee is entitled to 2 days of ECL for the year as long as they have served their employer for at least 3 months.
