What is the pro-rated Government-Paid Childcare Leave (GPCL) or Extended Childcare Leave (ECL) entitlement for new and terminating employees?
For new and terminating employees, GPCL and ECL entitlements are pro-rated based on the length of service within the year. In both cases, the employee must have completed at least 3 months of service to be eligible.
Government-Paid Childcare Leave (GPCL):
Length of service within the year | Eligible GPCL days |
|---|---|
Less than 5 months | 2 days |
5 to less than 7 months | 3 days |
7 to less than 9 months | 4 days |
9 to less than 11 months | 5 days |
11 months or more | 6 days |
Extended Childcare Leave (ECL):
An employee is entitled to 2 days of ECL for the year, provided they have served their employer for at least 3 months.
