Mothers, whether married or single, will continue to be eligible for GPCL, ECL and Unpaid Infant Care Leave (UICL) if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Fathers from the following scenarios will be disqualified:

  1. Married man who has a child from an extra-marital affair with a married/unmarried woman

  2. Unmarried man who has a child from an extra-marital affair with a married woman

For these scenarios, the father will only be eligible if he subsequently marries the child's mother and fulfils all other eligibility criteria.

A single unmarried man who has a child with a single unmarried mother will continue to be eligible if he fulfils all other eligibility criteria.
