Why is this stretch of the North East Line (NEL) chosen for free morning off-peak rail travel and Travel Smart Journeys?

This section is the most crowded part of our MRT network during morning peak hours. With more people expected to use these stations in the coming years due to new housing developments, we hope these incentives can encourage people to adjust their travel if possible, to less busy times to make train journeys more comfortable for everyone. LTA will look at the data to see how well this scheme works before deciding whether to adjust any of the parameters.
