The CPF monies of a deceased will be distributed according to the nomination they made during their lifetime. You will need to check with the CPF Board on whether the deceased had made a valid nomination for his / her CPF monies. If there is a nomination, the CPF Board will pay the monies directly to the nominees (if they are older than 18 years old). Otherwise, the CPF Board will forward the deceased's CPF monies to the Public Trustee to hold in trust if the nominee is below 18 years old (unless she is a widow).

If the deceased person did not make a valid nomination, the CPF Board will send the deceased's CPF monies to the Public Trustee for distribution, under the law. The un-nominated CPF monies paid to the Public Trustee will be distributed according to the Intestate Succession Act 1967 for non-Muslims. Un-nominated CPF monies belonging to Muslim CPF members will be distributed according to the Administration of the Muslim Law Act 1966.

For distribution of the un-nominated CPF monies, you will need to make an online application via https://go.gov.sg/pto . You will only be able to submit an online application after the un-nominated CPF monies are remitted to the Public Trustee. Once the un-nominated CPF monies are received by the Public Trustee, a letter will be sent to the person who has notified the CPF Board of the death and/or the deceased person's next-of-kin next-of-kin.

If you have submitted an online application and has not receive any update after a month from the application, you may submit an online enquiry form at https://pto.mlaw.gov.sg/ or call us at 1800 225 5529* to check on the status.

*When calling the MinLaw Enquiry Line using the 1800 2255 529, please note that airtime charges may apply to calls made from mobile phones
