Can we register our lawyers before we apply for a licence for a new law practice?

Updated by MLAW

You will need to be issued a law practice licence by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority before you can apply for Certificates of Registration ("CoR") for your lawyers.

Estimated processing time is 30 working days. Applications with incomplete supporting documents/information, submitted during the peak period from December to April, and/or that are complex, will take longer to process. Complex applications include those involving concurrent appointments, foreign interests in Singapore law practices and/or collaborations between Singapore law practices and foreign law practice entities.

Please take the above timelines into account when proposing the commencement date(s) for your law practice licence and CoRs, and submit your applications in good time.
