Can we register our lawyers before we apply for a licence for a new law practice?

You will need to be issued a law practice licence by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority before you can apply for Certificates of Registration ("CoR") for your lawyers.

Note that applications relating to certificates of registration (individuals) may take around 3-6 weeks, and applications relating to licences (law practice entities) may take around 3-16 weeks to process, commencing when all required supporting documents and information have been received. Applications that are incomplete, complex (e.g. involving concurrent appointments in more than one law practice entity, foreign interests in Singapore law practices and/or collaborations between Singapore and foreign law practice entities) or submitted during the peak period from December to April may require more time to process.

Please take the above timelines into account when proposing the commencement date(s) for your law practice licence and CoRs, and submit your applications in good time.
