Can I discharge or request to change my lawyer after granted aid from the Public Defender's Office?

Updated by MLAW
  • No. You will need to seek permission from the Chief Public Defender before doing so.

  • If you opt to discharge your assigned Public Defender on your free will, your case will not be re-assigned to another Public Defender.

  • In the event of a discharge, you may be required to reimburse the Public Defender's Office for the expenses incurred on your behalf.
