My company is on the DIRECT scheme. If the amount MINDEF reimburses to my company is less than what my company would have paid the NSman if he was not called up for ORNS activity, can my company take this difference from the NSman?

Updated by MINDEF

You should not take this amount back from your employee. The amount MINDEF reimburses to employers is an automatically-generated estimate using CPF Ordinary Wages and Additional Wages data submitted by employers to the CPF Board. This amount may not exactly match the amount paid to your employees as it is estimated based on CPF contributions in the past year. For e.g., if your employee attended his ORNS activity in the month where you are paying him his performance bonus, the amount of MUP paid by MINDEF will be lower than the actual amount your company pays him in that specific month.

If there are inaccuracies or discrepancies in the automatically computed MUP amounts, you will be able to amend the claim amount by submitting relevant supporting documents on the “Employee Payment Management” eService on the OneNS Portal.

If adjustments and the relevant supporting documents are submitted at least two weeks before the start of ORNS activity, MINDEF will pay the adjusted MUP amounts within 10 working days after the start of the ORNS activity. Otherwise, the automatically calculated amount will be paid first, and the adjusted MUP amounts will be made later after the adjustments/relevant supporting documents have been processed. All adjustments should be submitted within three months from the start of the ORNS activity.
