How will the refreshed MCS improve meaningful deployment?

Updated by MINDEF

Under the current system, servicemen are assigned a single broad PES status (PES A to PES F). While this helps to broadly determine the type of training activities and vocations that servicemen can participate in, there has been advancements in medical capabilities and understanding of how medical conditions interface with various role requirements. The advancement has allowed for a more precise MCS and enabled better characterisation of servicemen’s medical fitness.

Under the refreshed MCS, servicemen will now receive medical exemptions based on their individual medical conditions and functional limitations. These exemptions provide a more detailed and precise assessment of what activities each serviceman can safely perform.
