I am going overseas for business/work/study. Do I need to apply for Exit Permit?
You are required to apply for an Exit Permit if the duration of your overseas trip is 12 months or longer. If your scheduled NS call-ups fall within your Exit Permit application period, you are required to seek approval for deferment.
While you are no longer required to apply for an Exit Permit if you are travelling overseas or remaining overseas for a period of between 6 to 12 months in a single trip, you are still strongly encouraged to inform your unit.
You must also provide MINDEF with your updated contact information via My Personal Information, including temporary changes to contact information during overseas travel. This ensures your unit can contact you if necessary. You may be subject to disciplinary action if you fail to do so.
