Exit Permit Requirements for NSmen

Under the Enlistment Act 1970, all male Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents aged 13 years old and above are required to comply with Exit Permit requirements.

NSmen are only required to apply for an Exit Permit if they are travelling overseas for 12 months or longer. Nonetheless, as long as you are travelling for 6 months or longer, you are strongly encouraged to inform your unit so it can better plan and manage your call-ups.

NSmen who have entered the MINDEF Reserve (MR) must still apply for an Exit Permit for overseas trips lasting 12 months or longer. Only those who are exempted from NS or have reached statutory age - whichever is earlier, are no longer subject to Exit Permit requirements.

You are required to submit supporting documents along with your application.

Depending on the circumstances behind your Exit Permit application, you may be required to submit the following supporting documents.
