I have just received my promotion last month. I noticed that my original annual increment (AI) date has been changed. Why is that so?

If your Rank Pay before your promotion is at the maximum point, upon your promotion, your AI date will be changed to the month of your promotion. If your pay increase after promotion is 2 increments or more of your old Rank Pay scale, your AI date will also be changed to the month of the promotion.
