A base NS Pay of $1,600 per month will be paid to ensure NSmen are adequately compensated when they attend ORNS activities. NSmen whose civilian income is below the base NS Pay amount will receive the base NS Pay pro-rated based on the duration of their ORNS activity. NSmen whose foregone civilian income is above the base NS pay amount will be paid according to their civilian income. Employed NSmen whose civilian income loss is less than the base NS Pay amount will receive a top-up to the base NS Pay. This is reflected as 'NS Top-up' on the Payment History page under the 'Employee Payment Management' eService. If your company is registered with the DIRECT scheme, MINDEF will credit the difference between the base NS Pay and the civilian income loss directly to your NSman employee's bank account. If your company is not registered with the DIRECT scheme, MINDEF will credit the base NS Pay to your NSman employee's bank account. The base NS pay is not applicable for IPPT, NS FIT, mobilisation, and SV activities.
