What are the penalties for public nuisance offences?

Under the Penal Code, an offender who commits public nuisance may be punished with up to 3 month’s imprisonment and a fine of up to $2,000, depending on the facts of the case. Further, a person who repeats or continues a public nuisance, after having been issued an injunction by the relevant authority, may be punished with up to 6 months’ imprisonment and a fine. Apart from the Penal Code, the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act also contains offences against public order and nuisance, including nuisance, excessive noise and riotous disorderly or indecent behaviour in certain places.
