What are our laws relating to sexual offences, including and sexual offences committed against minors?

Updated by MHA

MHA takes a serious approach towards sexual offences committed in Singapore, particularly those involving minors, and penalties are severe. For instance, rape is punishable with up to 20 years’ imprisonment, and caning.

Offences committed against minors below 14 years of age, or against victims in close or intimate relationship with the offender may also be subject to enhanced penalties.

Apart from the Penal Code, the Children and Young Persons Act also provide for offences relating to the ill-treatment and sexual exploitation of children and young persons.
