What is the difference between Identity Card (IC) Number and Foreign Identification Number (FIN)?

National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) number is a unique 9-character alpha-numeric identification number, with prefix 'S' or 'T', issued to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents above the age of 15.

A Foreign Identification Number (FIN) is a unique 9-character alpha-numeric identification number, with prefix 'F', 'G' or 'M' assigned to foreigners with Long-Term immigration passes in Singapore (e.g. Student's Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass, Employment Pass, Work Permit, etc.) issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) or the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
