What happens if the device is damaged / stolen / lost?

Updated by FMSS

All student device bundles come with comprehensive insurance and warranty coverage for accidental damage, technical defects, or theft (provided proper care guidelines were followed). Loss through pure negligence is not covered.

To verify your child's coverage duration, please refer to their respective cohort tier:

  • For students who entered Secondary 1 in 2026: Your bundle includes a 4-year warranty and 4-year insurance policy (covering up to two repairs or one full replacement).

  • For students who entered Secondary 1 in 2025 or earlier: Your bundle includes a 3-year warranty and 3-year insurance policy (covering up to two repairs or one full replacement).

If the device is no longer covered under insurance due to expiry or policy exhaustion, any subsequent repair or replacement costs will need to be borne by the parent/guardian. For lower-income students who require financial assistance, MOE will continue to provide subsidies to minimize out-of-pocket expenses.

If your child's device is faulty, we strongly advise sending the device directly to the vendor for troubleshooting and repair, as the official Apple service centers are easily accessible and located near major MRT stations. While the device is away for service, your child can request a temporary loan unit from the school (subject to availability) so that their daily learning remains uninterrupted.
